DAVID LOWE | DISPATCH RECORD A Kempner woman received minor injuries Wednesday, a Lampasas police officer said, after the vehicle she was driving ran into a parked pickup on Nix Road.

Lampasas Police Department Patrol Officer Josh Watson gave the following account of the crash, which happened in the 1100 block of Nix Road about 3:30 p.m.

April Alkire, 32, was driving east on Nix Road in a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. Watson said the woman, who said she fell asleep, failed to control her speed and hit a flatbed pickup that was parked on the south side of Nix Road.

Ms. Alkire was wearing her seat belt when the crash happened.

Acadian Ambulance Service transported the woman to Rollins Brook Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Watson said.

The Chevrolet Avalanche was towed.

The Lampasas Fire Department assisted at the crash site.
